A Wonderful Weekend!

This was one of the best weekends I've enjoyed in a while! My brother-in-law was visiting from Minnesota, (to the delight of his only nieces!), so we decided to do a few things that we don't do very often. The weather was a little cooler than it has been (and that is a GOOD thing!), so it was wonderful to be outside and enjoying some of what southern California has to offer. On Friday, our kids were off from school, so we headed to Venice Beach--a favorite place of my BIL's where we had a picnic lunch on the beach, walked along the pier, browsed in shops and watched the street performers.

After an evening out with my husband to celebrate our anniversary at an Indian restaurant we love, he and I browsed through Borders Books before returning home. Saturday found us driving to Santa Clarita Festival of the Arts, where we walked several blocks of the town watching chalk artists at work and checking out vendor's wares, listening to live music set up at several points along the walk and watching a drumline demonstration which had everyone clapping, tapping, bobbing, and shaking!

We returned home, made dinner which we followed up with Brownies made by my daughter to celebrate BIL's 40th birthday--YUM!--and got ready to go out a second night in a row (unheard of in this household!) for an incredible evening of entertainment by Vaud and the Villains!

On Sunday afternoon we headed to Hollywood and walked a portion of Hollywood Blvd., spending a little bit of time looking for hand and foot prints of our Hollywood icons at Grauman's Chinese Theatre before leaving for home.

The day isn't quite over---we've got DVDs to watch and a yummy dinner to eat!

We are all going to be sad when our guest leaves tomorrow and we have to step back into being residents instead of being tourists! But it was nice while it lasted!!
